I was a bit confused while searching for the best sustainable fashion influencers online… In many listings the influencers had been chosen according to their net worth.
Just one issue there: a person’s net worth says absolutely nothing about their expertise or relevance in the sustainable fashion-sphere!
Or does a large number of valuable properties magically correspond with them being more knowledgeable about sustainable fashion brands and operations? With that logic Elon Musk is a bloody relevant influencer in this category, isn’t he? Except he sure as fuck isn’t!
So, once again I find myself in a situation where if I want to know something, I’m going to have to do the research myself. Because Google sure as hell is no longer helpful! And since I’m not a gate keeper, I will share my findings with all of you who take this matter seriously.
TOP 5 Best Sustainable Fashion Influencers to Follow in 2026
The list of the actual best sustainable fashion influencers that I’m about to share with you is based on my personal experience as well as research. I have been a passionate sustainable fashion advocate since 2018 when I went a year without shopping to rid myself of an addiction.
A part of that was following people on social media to get ideas on how to shop better and to be inspired. As such, I personally know the impact that a proper influencer in sustainable fashion can have regardless of their follower numbers, engagement rate, and least of all their net worth. Not surprisingly, this list consists of solely European names.
Let’s dig straight in, shall we?!
1. Venetia la Manna – A fire cracker with a sense of humour
- Instagram: @venetialamanna
- TikTok: @venetialamanna
- Youtube: @VenetiaLaManna_
Venetia la Manna was one of the first influential people in sustainable fashion that I came across. She calls herself a fair fashion campaigner, which is certainly fair enough.
Her content on social media is entertaining, yet at the same time very informative. She gives the facts as they are, in your face, which is exactly what this world needs right now.
What I love about her is the way she calls out fast fashion brands trying to greenwash their way into even more market share. And her British sense of humour is the cherry on the cake.
She started off her sustainable fashion journey on social media in the 2010’s and has since done a lot! For example, she’s a cofounder of Remember Who Made Them, a TV presenter, a podcast host (All the Small Things), and a writer. She also featured in a documentary about Shein.
She’s definitely worth adding to your best sustainable fashion influencers watch list.
2. Curiously Conscious (with Besma) – Calm vibes and sustainable lifestyle
- Instagram: @besmacc
- TikTok: @curiouslyconscious
- Youtube: @CuriouslyConscious
- Website: CuriouslyConscious
Another Brit on the list, oh yes. They just happen to have the best sustainable fashion influencers, what can I do about it? Besma offers quite a contrary vibe to the previous candidate. Her content on social media and on her website is calm, clean, curated, just like a sustainably influenced wardrobe should be.
Her style is much too subtle for my taste, but she’s introduced me to many sustainable brands that I’ve needed along the way. Her content is also very insightful and well produced, which is something that I admire immensely.
I am also biased, and not surprised I came across her on Instagram, because she’s from Brighton. One of my favourite cities in the UK. And if that wasn’t enough, she’s the founder of a charity called Brighton Fashion Collective.
A community that organises clothes swaps, markets, workshops and celebrates sustainable fashion every Autumn. Check her out and get inspired!
3. the Teresa Maria – Life outside societal norms with a sustainability-first mindset
- Instagram: @the_teresamaria
- TikTok: @the_teresamaria
- Podcast: theteresamaria
- Website: theTeresaMaria
the Teresa Maria is a sustainable fashion advocate who ‘saw the light’ after a personal bankruptcy caused by a bit of a shopping addiction. She’s best described as probably one the most authentic voices in the entire social media space, even brutally honest. Some people certainly don’t like that!
But that’s the point: there is no sustainability without authenticity and transparency. The two things that society has raised us to avoid like plague. Originally from Finland, the Teresa Maria has spent her entire adult life living around Europe discovering local artisan brands.
She shares her findings and the lessons learned honestly on her blog and social media channels. She’s also been featured on the Anima Animus podcast talking about how she quite fast fashion, and on the Doing Business Differently podcast talking about her alternative lifestyle.
Check her out if you dare! Actually you’re already closer than you think: it’s me! The owner, creator and author of the Outlandish Blog | Sustainable Fashion & Extraordinary Travel. Note the audacity adding myself on this list ;D
4. Saint Thrifty (Sophie) – The straight-talking second hand shopper
- Instagram: @saint.thrifty
- Tiktok: @saint_thrifty
- Substack: thrift or die
Another, shall we say, potty mouth on this list (can you see the pattern of what type of people I like to follow?) Saint Thrifty, aka Sophie, has a story that is quite similar to yours truly:
She stopped buying clothes in 2019 to challenge herself and got seriously into thrift shopping. In 2021 she started an Instagram account where she’s been sharing deep-dives into the disaster that is the fast fashion industry. Her content can be explosive, which has gotten her account banned a couple times.
For example, she’s been vocal about “sustainable fashion influencers” who accept collaborations from Shein, which obviously is the highest peak of hypocrisy. Because she dared to point that out, Meta decided to ban her account for a bit… Talk about small dick energy!
If you’re into thrifting and some real talk, Sophie’s your gal!
5. Elsa Billgren – The Vintage Queen from Sweden
- Instagram: @elsabillgren
- Blog: elsa.elle
- Youtube: @elsabillgren
As much as it pains me to include a Swede into this list of the best sustainable fashion influencers, I can’t really ignore this one. Elsa Billgren is a huge name in the sustainable fashion sphere, especially in vintage circles.
She’s blogging for ELLE magazine (in Swedish) and shares her vintage-inspired life and wardrobe on her social media channels. This is the one to follow for those who are looking for aesthetically pleasing and inspiring creators. You can expect Scandi chic, pastel colours and dreamy vintage finds.
What you won’t find here are outrageously honest opinions and reveals from the industry or her personal life. Elsa’s channels are more of a safe space that cultivates calm inspiration.
Other brilliant sustainable influencers
As you probably noticed, the above best sustainable fashion influencers list includes something for everyone. Variety is always good because we don’t feel the same every single day (at least I hope you don’t…)
But a TOP5 is a very compact list so I’d like to shortlist some more sustainability driven people for you to check out and follow for inspiration and motivation:
- Aja Barber – An unapologetic voice in the sustainable fashion space from London.
- aWanderFoodWorld – Lizette offers the best resources for sustainable travelers! She’s also a sustainable travel agent.
- its.thuha – A Swedish travel content creator sharing sustainable travel tips from Scandinavia and Asia.
- Karishma | Climate Girl – An inspiring climate activist and a sustainability advocate from Canada.
- SlowFashionMovement – The ultimate resource and community for any sustainable fashion enthusiast.
Why follow sustainable influencers online – What’s in it for you?
Well, why follow any influencer at all? For inspiration of course! As much as I hate the word ‘influencer’ (it sounds like a brainwashing cult), the incredible women I listed above are certainly worth checking out. Even if sustainable fashion doesn’t make you tick as such!
At the core these women advocate for a healthier lifestyle and mindset that repels the insane over-consumption and wasteful living that the mainstream media and politicians are shoving down our throats.
The best sustainable fashion influencers give you useful tips and information while simultaneously providing entertainment. By curating your wardrobe like they’ve done you’ll always have something to wear and you look like a millionaire! I know, I’ve done it ;) Their tips are also ones that actually save you long penny, unlike those fast fashion pieces that cost just a few €£$. Cheap ≠ worth it.
Especially if you have small children, it’s time you started making better and more conscious decisions when it comes to shopping and living. The climate crisis is no longer something that’s looming far in the future. It’s here right now! No matter where you live on this planet,
- storms are getting stronger and more dangerous each year
- droughts are causing serious issues for food production everywhere in the world
- and old men in power start wars over resources that we’ve taken for granted so far (like water).
For many people facing the seriousness of our current reality is painful. But I would think the prospect of your kids one day confronting you about not doing anything about the situation while we still could is worse. Good luck with that!
We consumers have the power!
But it’s not too late yet! We’re at the very brink of the abyss, and while many people feel powerless, that’s not actually the case. The ruling class wants you to feel powerless because then you will stay silent. You conform because you think that’s the easy way out.
But you will find yourself homeless and starving just like the rest of us, regardless of your current societal status. And once we accept that we will never be billionaires (because why the fuck should we??), things start looking a bit brighter:
Sure, there’s plenty of millionaires and billionaires out there today. But there’s a shit-ton more of us middle class and working class people! And if we all didn’t shop at all and refused to go to work for just one day, the entire global system would shut down.
WE don’t go to work and everything stops. Can you see the power you hold?! No, none of us has an impact alone, but as a collective we are the biggest threat to the ruling class. Which is why the big tech bitches desperately try to find ways to control us through social media, surveillance and AI.
But even their data centres don’t work unless we allow it. And by ‘allowing it’ I mean just showing up to work. That’s all. Food for thought. ♥
