The best way to fight the rise of far right is not what you would expect anymore. We’ve moved on from the days when being reasonable and appealing to people’s good nature were still relevant. Now we have to accept that we go against senseless, disenchanted individuals who feel like they’ve been ousted from society against their will. They don’t care if they lose their freedoms and rights, as long as you lose them!
Far right supporters are people who are consumed by rage, resentment and disappointment. Often all of these negative feelings have everything to do with these individuals themselves, but they refuse to take responsibility for themselves. Instead, they prefer to project all of that shit on other people. They are so deep in the ditch that no amount of kindness can help them, so don’t waste it on them.
We can acknowledge and understand this fact while at the same time accept that the gloves must come off, tougher means are necessary. Trying to convince these people otherwise through conversation will only waste our time and probably end up harming us. It’s time to toughen up and recognise that we’re fighting a different kind of an animal: foreign state-funded fascism.

How To Fight the Rise of Far Right
There is a space and time for all the basic efforts to fend off far right ideology, like promoting inclusivity, educating ourselves, and actively engaging in democratic processes. But if we want to have an actual impact on the supporters of far right ideology, then we need to get our hands dirty.
Small actions do also contribute to a larger movement against hate and division, but we need to learn from history. While history shows us that these movements will eventually implode on themselves, we can’t afford to let them stir us up into another useless war before that happens. We need to weaken these movements from the outside as much as they do damage themselves on the inside.
I’m all about empowering you right here right now so I’m going to focus on effective actions you can take on an individual level. After that I will also give you an overview of collective actions because none of us are in this alone! And before we get to it, here’s the good news:
Even if the polls tell a different story, far right parties DO NOT have the support of the majority in any country. I used to work in market research, which included making polls about and for political parties. I’ve seen first-hand just how fake and orchestrated these “political polls” are. Don’t buy into them!
So, let’s get to it: first up, how can you resist the rise of far right on an individual level?

1. Know Thy Enemy
As someone who grew up in the shadow of a major military threat (russia), I know exactly how important it is to know who you are fighting. Knowing and understanding your adversary gives you a wonderful advantage and valuable information.
In addition, it is also very important to make sure you are well educated on actual facts! Because the far right twats will go to great lengths to twist and warp everything we know. Read books, watch documentaries, and research the history of far-right movements and their effects on societies.
All of this basic knowledge combined with everything you know about far right supporters’ mentality and background gives you the advantage and confidence you need to face these twats and silence them before they even get started.
2. Fight Fire With Fire
Gone are the days when constructive discussion was an option. If you truly want to resist the rise of far right, you have to accept that these are not reasonable people! And you can’t try to reason with individuals that have been brainwashed into submission, and as such, can’t be reasonable even if they tried. Believe me, they will never try.
It’s 2026 so we all know that discrimination and racism are wrong! In many countries they’re illegal, for heaven’s sake. So, trying to hammer those basic facts into the heads of right wingers will only waste your precious time and energy. These people have been waiting for the opportunity to be able to spew hatred publicly. They don’t give a shit if it’s decent or socially acceptable.
So instead, if you truly want to go against these twats, you must lower yourself to their level.
- Keep communication simple: these people only understand short and snappy sentences, don’t try to be clever, they don’t get it
- Insult them: Point out their idiocy, get personal, call them stupid and ugly, truly get under their skin in a way that they can’t shake off
- Troll the fuck out of them: Never take anything they say seriously, reply with sarcasm, use dry and dark humour, keep it nasty
The far right twats expect us to be submissive, easygoing, hung up on decency and decorum. And while we are, we play their game. But if we take a different tact, we can throw them off balance with just one insult! And just like that the game is ours.
3. Keep the Freedom Flag Flying
What I find most hilarious about far right supporters are the women who support far right parties. Bitch, you’re literally fighting against your own right to exist! Talk about the ultimate idiot. Thankfully it is still a great majority of women and men who know better and thus fight the rise of far right.
In order to make sure that our democracies and personal freedoms prevail, we must make sure that these far right movements stay weak. They can have all the money in the world but if we, the majority, reject, ignore and shoot down their idiotic rhetoric and ideology, none of that money matters. Stay woke!
So, educate yourself on media literacy and take all immigrant-related social media content with a large grain of salt. To keep the far right weak we can and should also use the communication style described in the previous chapter. In addition, we should support and join organizations that celebrate and maintain civil rights, social justice, and anti-fascism.
4. Pay Attention to Where You Spend Your Money
Supermarkets are oh, so convenient and often the only option we have for our daily needs. But as long as we have multiple options to choose from, I’d advise you to check who are the owners of each supermarket brand. If some of them turn out to have owners who are known for financing far right parties and movements, make sure you shop elsewhere.
In the most preferable case and as far as you’re able, shop local! Support small businesses and farms, especially ones owned by LGBTQA+ individuals or immigrants.
And while you’re at it, you can also fight the rise of far right by funding or volunteering for local projects that aim to uplift disadvantaged communities or areas near you.
5. Spread the Message, Make Noise!
In the spirit of point 2, it is important to call out far right bullshit for what it is: absolute shite! Lies, made-up drama, disinformation and defamation should always be stitched on social media and shot down. Laugh at them, ridicule them, explain how these creators publicly embarrass themselves by sharing such idiocy, etc.
Sure, you need a thick skin for this! The important thing to remember is that if/when the wave of hate comments, even threats, start coming in, 90% of those comments are not from humans. They’re from bots, in which far right movements have invested a lot of money. Now, are you really going to let a bot make you feel bad because it told you you’re an ugly whore? Babe, please.
IF such a rare far right individual comes along who actually shows a genuine capacity to have a reasonable conversation, take the chance! Here you can use empathy and understanding without compromising at all on your own values and standards to try and persuade them to see sense.
Conversations with people who hold opposite viewpoints, and can justify those viewpoints, are often the best conversations we can have. It’s such a shame they’ve become a rarity, almost a unicorn nowadays. That’s why we have to fight the rise of far right: to bring back at least some civilization.
Resisting Far Right as a Community
As always, we don’t need to go it alone! At the end of the day, to effectively fight the rise of far right we need to stick together. There’s power in numbers and even if it doesn’t seem like it on social media, we sane people are the massive majority.
Here are some more inclusive ideas that we can all engage in together:
- Awareness Campaigns: Host or get involved in public forums, talks, and workshops that educate people about the implications of far-right ideologies. Use social media to spread awareness about the dangers of these events and themes.
- Inclusive Networks: Create or join networking events, coalitions and groups that promote inclusivity and diversity. Support local initiatives that emphasise multiculturalism and encourage intercultural dialogues.
- Local Politics: Attend town hall meetings and volunteer in local elections to promote candidates committed to upholding democratic values. Collaborate with community organizations to ensure the voices of minority populations are heard and represented.
- Support Local Media: Promote journalism that investigates and exposes far-right movements and the damage they do. Use local platforms to share success stories of community activism against hate.
- Nonviolent Protests: Organise effective demonstrations against far-right rallies and events to publicly challenge their ideologies. Organize counter-events that highlight unity, freedom and democracy.
It may look online like the far right twats are the majority but the actual majority is silent. And it’s most likely that the silent majority does not support giving up all of their personal rights and freedoms for fascism. So don’t let social media overwhelm you, let’s beat these bitches together!
