You can discover plenty of Central European gems with Ben and Camille, and even hire them as your personal tourist guides. Slow travel influencers are also the best way to discover cheap travel tips and destinations because tourist traps don’t into that niche.

6. Outlandish Blog – Extraordinary travel tips for solo travel and more
Sneakily, maybe also selfishly, I’m not leaving myself out of this spectacular group! Simply because I think I fit in there ;)
I approach travel from a sustainable point of view, which means that I prefer to stay clear of the biggest tourist traps, like Madrid, Venice, or Berlin. I prefer extraordinary travel destinations and alternatives to popular tourist spots that not many people would consider.
Not just because there are less people, but also because you get to experience the local culture and views better and more authentically. In addition to outlandish destinations I share travel safety tips. As a solo traveler and a digital nomad I’ve been through all sorts of scrapes and I would rather that you learn from my mistakes.

What is a travel visa?
As promised, we still need to cover what is a travel visa and how to acquire one. For us European citizens a travel visa to the UK is necessary, and vice versa. Although visa UK is not the same thing as Europeans traveling to the States and the other way round:
- UK: Travel visa UK is a Standard Visitor visa, which is usually enough and it’s an online application with (if required) biometrics taken at a visa application centre. For some nationalities it’s also possible to use ETA instead of a visa.
- US: If you’re from a Visa Waiver Program (VWP) country, like the EU countries, you use ESTA, not a visa. Otherwise you apply for a nonimmigrant B-1/B-2 visa using DS-160. This usually includes an embassy or consulate interview process
- From the UK to the EU: Visa-free! Up to 90 days across the Schengen area. Make sure your passport is valid for at least 3 more months after the day you plan to leave the Schengen area. There may also be biometrics checks to get through at the border so prepare to queue and be early.
- From the US to the EU: the same visa-free rules apply for short trips (up to 90 days) in the Schengen area as for UK travelers. In addition, since 2025, U.S. citizens must go through the EU’s Entry/Exit System (EES) when traveling to any European countries (including Schengen).
Always check country-specific regulations and rules before applying for a travel Visa! Even within the EU and the Schengen area some countries may have their own exceptions to some rules, even though the big framework is the same for everyone. Better to be safe than sorry!
