Behind The Scenes – Failed Fashion Shots vol. 2

I’m an advocate for openness and transparency, so I don’t want to keep it hidden how raw the reality behind being a blogger sometimes is. The blood, sweat and tears are never seen by anyone, and while I don’t want to bore anyone with my meltdowns over my website being down, I’ve chosen to share my failed fashion shots with you for some lighter content.

In 2019 I used my friends and family members as my photographers, which resulted in some truly hilarious shots. Check them out in my previous ‘Failed Fashion Shots‘ post here.

At the end of last year I was able to hire a photographer. Obviously the quality of my photos increased a lot, but also the amount of them increased by a tenfold.

The thing with having a professional photographer is that you don’t need to direct them all the time, so the chances of failed fashion shots decreases significantly. That doesn’t mean, though, that there wouldn’t be any.

I’ve gathered here some proper fails, and hopefully can showcase the well-known fact that what you see on the blogs and on the magazines isn’t reality. Behind the scenes we’re all failures ;D

Rock. Robot Rock.

My favourite kinds of failed shots are the ones where I’m about to get up from somewhere, or attempting to stay horizontal. I always wear heels for photos, and sometimes this can be an ‘easier said than done‘ feat.

Failed Fashion Shots

Come on, vogue

Striking a pose can be hard enough on its own, but the process of finding a good pose is even harder. I remember learning this when I got a modeling file made at the age of 17 (oh yes, it was a career option, but I chose to move to Scotland instead and study).

The photographer told me then that the more uncomfortable I felt, the more ‘modelly’ the photo would look. And if you do pay attention next time you riffle through a magazine, those poses can’t be comfortable. Not sure if they’re that great either, though…

Can’t you see this is the land of confusion?

Well, I sure can! In a lot of my photographs between photographs I’m looking at the things I’m holding or at the camera as in “Ooh, what’s that?!” As if I’ve never seen the shoes I’m wearing, or the camera so I need to eat my hair out of nervousness.

Just… WTF??

And sometimes there just isn’t an explanation. Why does my face do that; what on Earth am I attempting to accomplish; am I okay? We may never know but please, do enjoy these last shots of pure question marks:

So, there you have it, a collection of the failed photos from all of the photoshoots I’ve had within the past 3 months. Obviously there were loads more, but I tried to choose the “best” ones.

What do you think, are this sort of posts a nice balance act amidts the serious subjects? Or would you rather I kept on the appropriate path? I’d love to know your thoughts, so comment below, lovelies! ♥
