17 Ethical Fashion Brands – The UK Edition 2025

These days it’s hard to know which are actually ethical fashion brands and which are just fast fashion brands engaging in greenwashing. That’s why I’m here!

Here on Outlandish Blog you can find a plethora of articles on why we should all put a little bit more thought into shopping clothes and also plenty of brand suggestions.

And here’s another article where I share some incredible sustainable fashion brands – this time focusing on the UK. Most of these brands are available in the US and Europe as well, and ship globally, so don’t be thinking I’d be discriminating anyone here.

Now, before I share these amazing 16 brands with you, let’s remind ourselves of the basic princibles of HOW to shop sustainably:

The key is to always ask yourself these 2 questions before you head to the counter:

  • Do I need this
  • Where am I going to wear this

If you don’t need it and can’t think of where and how to wear the piece, please leave it. Otherwise you are directly contributing to the massive fashion waste problem.

And in case some you also wish to know how to tell the genuine ethical fashion brands apart from the rubble, here are my tips:

How to recognise a genuinely sustainable fashion brand?

The easiest tell-tale sign for ethical fashion brands is that their environmental impact is considered in all aspects of their business operations.

PIHKA collection – a sustainable accessory brand – is a brilliant example of this: their fabric manufacturers create the energy used by the factory themselves, and all PIHKA bags are handcrafted. Waste is kept to minimum by using the fabric leftovers to make jewellery and other small products.

The environmental impact can also be considered by a brand by providing workers with refillable lunch dishes instead of disposable ones. They should also provide employees with public transport tickets or bicycles.

One more important factor, that helps you to recognize sustainable fashion brands, are the brand’s employee rights. Are there any? In fast fashion factories there literally are none, but even in some Western countries things are quite grim:

Something like denying an employee health care or annual holidays violates human rights. And that makes a brand unsustainable. Here are some employee rights that too many tend to take for granted, and which make a brand unsustainable when ignored:

  • Workers receive fair wages, and men and women are paid equally.
  • Workers are provided with safe and healthy working conditions.
  • Workers have free speech and can voice their opinions.
  • Workers are protected from prejudice, discrimination, and abuse, including sexism, racism, sexual harassment, and more.
  • Workers have access to healthcare and time off.
  • Workers have access to financial assistance to help them gain independence and escape poverty.
