For the past couple of weeks I have been completely out of inspiration. I can’t think of anything to write about and grabbing the camera became a near-impossible feat.
But since I believe that things happen for a reason, this lack of interest towards sitting by my laptop is probably just my subconscious telling me to take a break. It’s Summer after all!
This is the time to recharge our batteries and allow ourselves some slack. July is a lazy month everywhere, people are starting their holidays and website traffic goes down. So, I’m going to listen to my body and not force myself to create content. Forced content is always bad, anyway.
Instead, I want to improve the visual side of things; I want to learn to take better photographs and I especially want to learn to photograph with a manual. I put a shed-load of money on a professional camera a year ago, but I haven’t used even one fifth of its potential yet.
So, while I take a little break and try to learn new photography techniques here’s a little look into my past week and what it entailed. Most photos were taken with my phone, so the quality is of course not as brill as with a pro camera.
I woke up to the smell of lilies that I bought the week before, and which were still in banging condition. I don’t have a green thumb, so I’m very proud of keeping these alive for so long.
Another thing that boded good for the start of the week was the fact that there was a song playing in my head when I woke up: “It’s a new dawn, it’s a new day, it’s a new life, and I’m feeling gooood!”
The third picture is in fact our ‘relax space’ at the office. What do you think of the decór? Too ascetic for ya?
Our office happens to be right next to an area that’s filled with amazing cafés and restaurants AND shops. I haven’t shopped at all since my last purchase in May, but show me a bardot neckline dress and you’ve got me! I can’t wait to get to style this beauty to the office as well as to a night out. The perfect date outfit! All I need now is the date :D
Rainy day. I love waking up to rain as long as I can stay in bed and listen to the rain. No such luck today, so up I get. I took my camera to work today so that my colleague could show me how changing aperture works. Hence the 2 random photos from my work desk.
After work I usually gobble up some simple food. I’m a huge lover of sandwiches, so that’s what I often go for. Sandwiches are the best because they’re so versatile, can be eaten cold or fried in the oven, and are always taastyy.
The last picture is a little sneak peek at a photo shoot I held in the evening for a post that’s coming out in couple of weeks. You can probably deduce from the setup that it’s a post about beauty products.
I usually go running on Tuesday, Thursdays and Saturday mornings, but due to yesterday’s shit weather I had to cancel my sports plans. So, On Wednesday I decided to take home office because I was determined to go running, and I also had blog work to take care of.
I did pop to the office for the afternoon to see some people, but went home early because I had to get ready for the evening. There was a rooftop terrace opening in Telliskivi, and I’m a sucker for a nice rooftop terrace!
The venue surprised us! It was in one word amazing. Such beautiful architecture and design, and the balcony went all around the building. We were enjoying wine and watching the sun set in a setting that was made for me. I’ll be sure to go back for dinner!
We had decided to sleep in on Thursday because most people are on holiday and there’s not much happening at the office in the morning anyway. So, I woke up 9ish and worked from home again up til lunch.
I gotta say, I do have the best colleagues and the work environment on the planet. It’s always such a joy going to the office and seeing those faces. I also know that I’m in a very privileged position in this way. ♥
After work, launching on my couch scrolling through Twitter, I came across this tweet and it explained EVERYTHING! It’s not just me who’s feeling tired, bored, and out of energy on all levels right now, and finally there’s an explanation to it.
Now, don’t look at me like that, I’m not some whacko, but this planet shit is real! And it makes so much sense that I can’t handle it. At least I don’t need to scream at walls anymore cause I can’t understand what’s going on.
Weekend, woohoo!! We’ve adopted a habit of going for a dinner every Friday with our girl crew, and I woke up on Friday with the restaurant’s menu rolling in my mind. That’s a nice thing to wake up to.
So, while drinking my morning coffee I already decided what I will eat in the evening. And then off I went, running.
It was another half day home officing and taking some blog photos for stock. I also had a wee Skype interview to participate in; an Oxford University Master’s Degree student wanted to interview me about blogging to her dissertation. Super cool.
I had thought about home officing all Friday but my colleagues persuaded me to at least pop by at the office, and I obviously can’t see any reason not to. On my way to work I checked my mail box and there was a nice little surprise: my PIHKA collection business cards had arrived!
And in the evening I finally got to wear my favourite skirt, a pair of my most uncomfortable but most beautiful heels, and got to eat some amazingly good food in the bestest company. Friday well spent ♥
Now, I’m gonna move on to enjoy the weekend, have a good one y’all!
